Handy iPhone App
on Jul 06 in Technology tagged by Trevor HicksI just added The Extraordinaries on my iPhone. The premise is that busy people can do volunteer work in very small chunks and I think it’s a fine idea. The way it works is that there are several partner charitable institutions, they give you small tasks they need help with and if you can do only a few at a time, fine they take all the help they can get. My favorite is to tag pictures. The Library of Congress and the Smithsonian have gigantic archives of photos, they show you one and you describe what you see. This makes the archives much more useful and searchable. I guess they figure a random person with an iPhone will add information that’s at least better than nothing.
It’s a fun way to make yourself useful.
